No other gods.

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”  – Exodus 20:3

no other gods...

Hey! Sounds simple enough! *tosses out golden statues*

There can’t be much more to that commandment, right?

Have you ever been guilty of putting something before God? I know I have.

This verse in Exodus is not merely referencing statues, or the worship of false gods (although those are most assuredly commanded against in this verse as well). But in order to understand the full meaning of this commandment, we must examine not only the letter of the law, but the spirit behind it as well.

God wants to be first. In everything. He warns us about ‘serving two masters’. We cannot serve Him AND our desires.

God must be first in our lives.

Like I said, I am guilty of this sin. In fact, I’ve been guilty many many times of  putting my desires before God. I always justified my actions by stating “Well, God put these desires in my heart so that I would act on them.”

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

It’s not that God doesn’t want us to have fulfillment and happiness. On the contrary, Christ has offered us everlasting life! We have every reason to be joyful and happy.

But here is where I went dreadfully wrong:

I went to my desires before the Word of God. Sure, God gives us some desires. He gives us the desire to help others. He gives us the desire to be successful. He gives us the desire to love, and to be loved. Are any of these desires inherently bad? Absolutely not.

However, when we put our desires before God leaving His Word in our dusts as we go our own way, we fail.

Here’s how it should work.

1. We have a desire, so we surrender it to God.

Surrender

“What do you mean by ‘surrender’?”

To surrender is to give up. Literally allowing God to take away what we know we cannot handle on our own.

We ought to do this out of humility, and out of obedience.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

He is the VINE! Without Him, we get no water to grow out branches, without Him, we die and cease to exist. Without Him, we can do nothing. So why not surrender our wants and desires to Him?

“Trust in the LORD, and do good; [so] shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.”

 - Psalms 37: 3-5 -

I believe the above verse says what I’m trying to say far better than I could ever say it. :) From this verse, we can obviously see what the next step should be.

2. Trust in God, do good. Delight in HIM (not our desires). Commit ourselves to Him, and to His Words.

3. And God shall give us our desires, and shall bring it all to pass.

What difficulty. But at the same time, what comfort! God has promised that He shall give us our desires, if our minds and our actions are fixed on Him!

I have had this message on my heart for some time. God is still working with me in this area, but I thought I’d share it with you all in the hopes that it may speak to one of you. God bless, and thank you for reading!

My Original Oratory: Godly Manhood

Today, our society has reached the peak of its moral decline. Our political structure, and religous culture centered around compromise and the “opening of minds”, punishes any who dare stand up for what is right. The results of such compromise are both obvious, and appalling. 50% of all marriages in the United States will end in divorce, according to Jennifer Baker of the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. A country that was founded upon Biblical, and moral principles, will no longer allow their public schooled students to pray. Approximately 8,300 unborn babies are murdered every day, in America alone. This country is in deep trouble, and godly men are the key to revival and recovery both politically and religously. While we see the blatant need for godly men in our culture, there is much debate over what godly manhood actually is. In this speech, I will define Godly manhood.

1. What is a godly man?

In Joshua chapter 1, Moses had just died, and God is giving the leadership of the people of israel to Joshua. In this passage, we find the definition of Godly Manhood.

“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land… Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

2. Godly men are strong

Merriam-Webster defines strength as “the quality or state of being strong : capacity for exertion or endurance”

So, is being a strong man dependent on physical exercise? Do we mean by “strong man” that every man must have large biceps? Or is God referencing a different type of strength in this passage?

1 Timothy 4:8 says “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”

This verse does NOT say that bodily exercise doesn’t profit! However, it points out the fact that godliness IS more important than physical strength. Is this a mental strength, then? Perhaps the ability so speak elequently, or persuade everyone around you that your way is the best?

Ephesians 6:10 says “Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.”

God is not talking about physical strength. There is an alternate definition of strength found in merriam webster’s dictionary that I believe says it plainly. Strength is “the power of resisting attack”. God provides men with strength to do the right thing even under the most difficult situations. God wants men to be morally strong. God is literally telling Joshua to resist attack! Now, this makes a lot more sense, really. Would God really be telling the leader of the people of Israel to do more push-ups?

Why do we need strength? It isn’t difficult to think of an example of the consequences of weak men. In fact, the very first sin commited on earth was a result of a man not having the strength to resist attack.

Adam was not morally strong, He forgot the only commandment of God, and caved in to peer pressure.

Similarly, today we often find weak men the cause of many problems. October, 2009, the US Congress met together to vote on an ammendment that would ban government funding of abortions from the healthcare bill. At least 50 Congressmen, claiming to be Christians, voted against the ammendment. Caving in, they allowed the political pressure to dictate their morals. This is called compromise, and it seems to have become synonymous with politics these days. Men who stand for what’s right, with strength from God, are few and far between.

Now we know what strength is, and its importance, how do we recieve strength?

David, one of the strongest and most uncompromising men of all time said in psalm 119:28 “My soul is weary with sorrow: strengthen me according to your word.”

Strength comes from Christ, and the maintenance of this strength from the study, and application of His Word.

But moral strength is only good when we use it. Matthew 5 states “men do not light a candle, and put it under a bushel. But on a candlestick, it gives light unto all the house.” To actually practice strength, we need courage.

3. Godly men are Courageous

Just like a man who can run a 4 minute mile, and never uses his abilities in a race, God does not want men with their moral strength standing on the sidelines. Perhaps that is why in the passage from Joshua we find “be strong and courageous” together 3 times.

In perhaps one of my favorite movies of all time, Spiderman, a similar idea is recognized as the major theme. Multiple times in the movie, Spiderman is faced with conflict and feels like giving in. But each time, he is reminded of something his uncle told him once, long ago. “With great power, comes great responsibility.”

Merriam-Webster defines courage as a “firmness of mind and will in the face of danger or extreme difficulty”.

My definition of courage is: the ability to recognize fear as your worst enemy and, through the power of Christ, defeat it.

This courage-lacking society is crumbling.

October 24th, 2009, Outside of the Richmond High School formal dance, A 15 year old girl was physically assaulted, and abused by 10 other students.

This is not the sickest part- at least 10 other teenagers were seen with camera phones, video-taping the event. None of them even considering stepping in, to save the girl.

Only after over two hours of abuse, did a “friend” of the girl call 9-1-1. Emergency vehicles arrived just in time to save the girl’s life.

This sickening display of the lack of moral strength in our society is only the very tip of the iceberg. After all, the most sickening part is not found in the fact that she was abused, but that there was not a single man on the entire campus with the courage to stand up for what was right and put a stop to it.

Godly men have the strength to resist attack, and the courage to act upon their beliefs in the face of adversity. Had there been one godly man at that high school that had known what was going on, the situation would have been much better. But instead, we got a glimpse of our upcoming generations. It was obvious that there were many people around, but no-one felt the courage or strength within themselves to stand up against the evil, so they compromised. Pulling out their cell phones, and video-taping the unspeakable act would make them popular with their friends.

Once again, we see the problems, and the necessity of godly men. But how do we have courage?

When Jesus went into the wilderness, and fasted 40 days and 40 nights, He was subjected to the harshest and fiercest attacks satan could muster. During this time of temptation, Jesus showed considerable courage, and strength. First, having the power to resist, then, having the courage to say what was necessary.

Get you behind me satan!

Quoting verses from the Bible, Jesus not only defended His sinlessness, but also wounded satan and with courage, commanded Him to leave.

So, Courage comes from the Bible, too? Yes.

 Psalm 31:24 says
“Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.”

4. Godly Men Love, Sacrifice

There is yet another characteristic that defines a Godly man. Love. This “love” bears not the same meaning as the common form of the word “love” used in today’s society. This kind of love is real, true, love. love in it’s purest form. Sacrifice. This characteristic is best described in the historic, tragic, and inspiring account of the HMS Birkenhead.

It was a cold February morning in the year 1852. The H.M.S. Birkenhead, commanded by a Captain Robert Salmon, was making a trip to transport over 600 troops to fight in the Frontier War- raging in South Africa. Along with the troops travelled some 20 women, and children.

It was an unusually calm night. Approaching a rocky outcrop aply named “Danger Point”– disaster struck. With everyone but The Watch in their sleeping quarters, no-one could possibly expect the disaster awaiting them. As the watch, scanned the clear glowing waters ahead, and just as the Leadman called “Sounding 12 Fathoms!”, the Birkenhead rammed an uncharted rock.

The churning paddle wheels of the Birkenhead drove her on with such force that the rock sliced through into the hull ripping open the compartment between the engine-room and forepeak. Water flooded into the forward compartment of the lower troop deck filling it instantly.

All the surviving officers and men who could, assembled on deck. The senior officer on board, Lieutenant-Colonel Seton of the 74th Royal Highland Fusiliers took charge of all military personnel. He immediately summoned his officers around him and stressed the importance of maintaining order and discipline amongst the inexperienced soldiers.

Realizing the hopeless position they were in, the captain ordered “Lower the lifeboats!”. To their dis-may, due to a lack of maintenance, much of the lowering equipment would not function.

That night under a clear starry sky the great naval tradition of “women and children first” was established as eventually 3 small boats were launched and the seven women and thirteen children were rowed away from the wreck to safety.

Only then did Captain Salmond shout to the men that everyone who could swim must save themselves by jumping into the sea and make for the boats.

Lieutenant-Colonel Seton quickly recognised that such a rush would mean that the lifeboats could be swamped and the lives of the women and children on-board would thus be endangered. He drew his sword and ordered his men “stand fast!”. The untried soldiers did not move even as the ship split in two and the gallant company slipped down into the waves.

The Birkenhead sank only twenty-five minutes after she had struck the rocks, only the topmast and sailcloth remained visible above the water with some fifty men still clinging to them.

Of the 634 people onboard the Birkenhead, only 193 were saved.

Some call it chivalry, I call it Love. I call it sacrifice.

John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this; that he lay down his life for his friends.”
Sacrifice is the greatest act of love any man could accomplish. A Godly man sacrifices his wants, his desires, what he believes is important. He sacrifices his life for God, and those he is called to love.
Strength, Courage, and Love.

God does it best!

So, I went running tonight, and got lost in the neighborhoods in downtown Derby, Kansas. It was an exhilirating run, I just love Christmas time, and one of my favorite things to do is run around neighborhoods looking at the lights.

One of the first things I noticed, though, as I began my run, was not the colorful lights; Not the large santa’s in the sleighs led by scores of colorful reindeer- it was not the extravagantly lit trees, or wreaths layered with holly. No, the first thing that grabbed my attention could not be bought, sold, or artificially reproduced.

It was the sky. That’s right, after all the money spent on Christmas lights, all the time spent making them look just right, I was not as dazzled as I usually am by them. The moon was full, and it was beautiful. The stars shone with what seemed to be a renewed brilliance, and I could hardly take my eyes off of them!

Don’t get me wrong, here. I’m NOT by any stretch of the imagination dissing, or otherwise putting down Christmas lights. But rather, pointing out that, well, God does it best! ;)

[Is] not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are! – Job 22:12

When I consider the heavens, the work of your fingers the moon and the stars which thou hast ordained; What is man that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? – Psalm 8:3-4

“The moon and stars to rule by night; for His mercy endureth forever.” – Psalm 136:9

He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by [their] names. – Psalm 147:4

Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. -Psalm 148:3

I'm sorry…

Have you ever felt that the phrase “I’m sorry” was simply, inadequate? You feel so bad, that those two words couldn’t possibly express the depths of your regret?

Me too.

Why do we apologize?

Because we have done something wrong.

Too often, apologies are cheapened. People say “I’m sorry” just to make the other person feel better, (in order to make themselves happier) and not to truly express their feelings of regret, humility, and repentance.

So what does “I’m sorry” really mean?

Firstly, I’m sorry means  that you realize what you are apologizing for is your fault. Meaning, if you had not done wrong, the problem would never have existed. To apologize sincerely, you must recognize this:

It was my fault.

The second thing you must realize, when you are apologizing, is that you do not deserve to be forgiven. You have done something wrong, and you already recognize this. You must continue to go back to that wrong, and realize that it was purely because of you. “I’m sorry” is not a magic formula that makes everyone happy. The very meaning of “I’m sorry” proves that the person to whom you are apologizing to is under no obligation whatsoever to forgive.

I do not deserve forgiveness.

The third and final thing you must realize before sincerely apologizing, is repentance. Repentance is more than just realizing you did wrong, and asking for forgiveness. Repenting means you are acting out your regret, and turning from that which caused the problem in the first place.

I will do my best to never let this happen again.

It is always best to consider what you are apologizing for VERY carefully before you apologize. Make sure that each of these steps is fully recognized. Probably the most important thing to do before you ask for forgiveness from someone, is to ask forgiveness to God, and to yourself.

God will always forgive, when we repent. Forgiving ourselves is a little more difficult. But if we do not realize what we have done, and we cannot forgive ourselves, it can only be because we did not truly feel repentant. If we are repentant, self-forgiveness will come. And only when we forgive ourselves, can we truly ask someone else to forgive us. If we do not forgive ourselves, we are not truly sorry.

A friend of mine recently shared this verse with me, and I thought this was a great verse for the topic.

Philippians 4:5-7 ~ “Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord [is] at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Forgiveness is a supernatural thing. For someone to forgive the wrong-doing of others is an action that can best be described as “Christ-like”. Therefore, in order to best achieve true forgiveness, is to make sure that you have talked to God first.

After all, who is more important than God, in the end?

Thus ends my rant for the day, ;) I hope you have learned something, or have been other-wise touched by this post. Thank you all!

Sooo… where are the men??

Like it or not, America has reached the peak of its decline.  As a result, 50% of all marriages in the United States will end in divorce, according to Jennifer Baker of the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. A country that was founded upon Biblical, and moral principles, will no longer allow their public schooled students to pray. 1,760 children died from abuse during the year 2007.

What has been happening over the years, to bring us to the point of moral decline?? Where are the men, in this nation?

I would like to share with  you a story. Just a warning, and a disclaimer, before I begin. This story is graphic, and is probably one of the sickest, and most heart-wrenching stories you’ll ever hear. When I heard it, I could not believe my ears, so I felt I needed to research for myself.

Outside of a Richmond High School, October 24th, 2009. A 15 year old girl was physically assaulted, and abused by 10 other students. This is not the sickest part- at least 10 others were seen with camera phones, video-taping the event. None of them even considering lending a hand.

Only after 1 and a half hours of abuse, did a “friend” of the girl call 9-1-1. Emergency vehicles arrived only just in time to save the girl’s life.

There was not a single man on the entire high school campus. This sickening display of the depths of our society’s moral decay is only the very tip of the iceberg.

Self-gratification is literally tearing this nation apart, from the inside out.

What is a Biblical Man?

A biblical man stands for Christ. No matter what happens, he is not ashamed, nor is he hesitant to take a stand- through the power of Christ in Him.

A Biblical man’s one and only goal is to glorify and please God, in whatever he does.

He is the provider of the family, and is the head of the household.

How many two headed horses have you seen? How many cars have 2 steering wheels? How many Kingdoms-or countries have two Kings- or presidents.

God gave man the responsibility to be the head. Not because they are better in any way- we are all created in the image of God- but, because God gave men and women SEPERATE and DIFFERENT roles.

You can not have a strong union made up of people with different goals. Without men to stand against abuse, and fight for what is right- without a return to the basic principles of life given to us by our Creator God, we can have no hope for recovery.

Hello everyone! I am posting my 1st Affirmative Constructive case I wrote for the National Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA) Team Policy debate on my blog for each of you to critic. Please, I would ask that if you find anything at all that you are curious about, or maybe an inconsitancy, or even just questions about what any of this means, please comment! Thank you guys very much! :D

These days, citizens of the United States have begun to think of the Federal Government as some type of Superman. Here to solve the world’s problems, and “save the day”. Upon this false premise, the Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards were imposed on car manufacturers. This legislation imposes more rules on an already struggling car industry by demanding that all cars manufactured in the US are created with a specific miles per gallon rating. The goal behind this law was to “save the world” from climate change, and reduce our dependency on foreign oil. But at what cost? The freedom of the manufacturers.

Because of the false premise adopted by the Federal Government, and because of the over-whelming failures of the CAFE standards to accomplish its goals, my partner and I stand resolved: That the United States Federal Government should significantly reform its environmental policy.

In order to promote clarity in today’s round we offer

Observation 1: Definitions. (sources available upon request)

Significant: “Important; of consequence” (dictionary.com/significant)

Reform: “The improvement or amendment of what is wrong, corrupt, unsatisfactory, etc.” (dictionary.com/reform)

Environmental Policy: “is any (course of) action deliberately taken (or not taken) to manage human activities with a view to prevent, reduce or mitigate harmful effects on nature and natural resource” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_policy)

Definition of CAFE (only if necessary)

CAFE website

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/cafe/overview.htm

Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) is the sales weighted average fuel economy, expressed in miles per gallon (mpg), of a manufacturer’s fleet of passenger cars or light trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 8,500 lbs. or less, manufactured for sale in the United States, for any given model year. Fuel economy is defined as the average mileage traveled by an automobile per gallon of gasoline (or equivalent amount of other fuel) consumed as measured in accordance with the testing and evaluation protocol set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Observation II : Goal

With the definitions clarified, the affirmative will present a Goal for the round. Or, what this round is going to be focusing on, we would ask the judge to base (His or Her) decision on this at the end of the round.

We, as the affirmative team, present the goal of: Proper Role Of Government

The role of government being purely to protect the rights and freedoms of its citizens, the Affirmative team is confident that the US Government has twisted its purpose into something that it is not. This twist of purpose, as we will show during this speech, inevitably leads to dangerous consequences to the peoples rights to life, liberty, and property.

That said, we would ask you the judge to vote for whichever team, affirmative, or negative that best presents the US Government with the proper goals.

Observation III : Inherency, or the way things are..

1. Regulations

President Barack Obama recently enacted stricter CAFE standards, Referencing these new laws, The wall street journal reported-

Wall Street Journal, May 20th, 2009.
Henry J. Pulizzi

“President Barack Obama said new government rules designed to boost fuel efficiency and slash greenhouse-gas emissions will give auto makers “clear certainty” at a time when their business is enduring a “historic crisis.”

-The rules would require new passenger cars sold in the U.S. to meet an average mileage requirement of 39 miles per gallon by 2016.

That’s a dramatic rise from current averages–27.5 mpg for cars, 23 mpg for trucks–and would bring the overall average of cars and light trucks to 35.5 mpg by 2016, four years earlier than current federal law requires.”

These new standards seize the manufacturers rights to liberty, and property as the government makes the decisions on exactly how the companies make cars.

2. CAFE ineffective.

National Center for Policy Analysis, Nov 27, 2006

http://www.ncpa.org/sub/dpd/index.php?Article_ID=13892

“Washington spends more than $3 billion a year on renewable and alternative energy programs, clean coal technology, energy research and the like, according to the Government Accountability Office. Yet all these Big Government efforts have failed to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, says Investor’s Business Daily (IBD).

In fact, the opposite has occurred. In 1970, imports accounted for about 20 percent of the country’s oil supply; today, they account for 60 percent. To understand why, take a look a few specifics.

Fuel economy:

The federal government has since 1975 required automakers to meet corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards; as a result, cars on the road today are 52 percent more fuel efficient than they were 30 years ago.
But that hasn’t cut gasoline consumption; average per-person spending on gasoline is up 4 percent since 1975 after adjusting for inflation, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis; one key reason is that people are driving more, offsetting the gains in efficiency.”

Observation IV : Harms, or problems brought about by the way things are…

1. Added Cost

The new CAFE standards make vehicles more expensive. The Associated Press reports May 20, 2009-

http://www.chicagotribune.com/classified/automotive/ny-bc-us–obama-autos-glanc0519may19,0,6427266.story

-”President Barack Obama is asking consumers to put their money — up to $1,300 per new vehicle by 2016 — behind his plan for higher efficiency standards for cars and trucks and tougher rules on their greenhouse gas emissions.

In return, Obama said Tuesday in unveiling the plan, drivers would make up the higher cost of more fuel-efficient, cleaner vehicles by buying less gas at the pump. It would take just three years to pay off the investment and would, over the life of a vehicle, save about $2,800 through better gas mileage, the president said.”

2. Death

Charlie E. Coon July, 2001 (Charlie E. Coon is Senior Policy Analyst for Energy and the Environment in the Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies at The Heritage Foundation.)

http://www.heritage.org/Research/EnergyandEnvironment/BG1458.cfm

“Not only has the CAFE program failed to meet its goals; it has had tragic even if unintended consequences. As vehicles were being made lighter to achieve more miles per gallon and meet the standards, the number of fatalities from crashes rose.

The evidence is overwhelming that CAFE standards result in more highway deaths. A 1999 USA TODAY analysis of crash data and estimates from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that, in the years since CAFE standards were mandated under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975, about 46,000 people have died in crashes that they would have survived if they had been traveling in bigger, heavier cars. This translates into 7,700 deaths for every mile per gallon gained by the standards.

A 2000 study by Leonard Evans, now the president of the Science Serving Society in Michigan, found that adding a passenger to one of two identical cars involved in a two-car frontal crash reduces the driver fatality risk by 7.5 percent. If the cars differ in mass by more than a passenger’s weight, adding a passenger to the lighter car will reduce total risk.

The Evans findings reinforce a 1989 study by economists Robert Crandall of the Brookings Institution and John Graham of the Harvard School of Public Health, who found that the weight of the average American automobile has been reduced 23 percent since 1974, much of this reduction a result of CAFE regulations.”

Seeing the consequences of such perversion of the purpose of government, The Affirmative team proposes a

Observation V : PLAN

Agency: Both houses of congress, and any other necessary federal agencies.

To be passed immediately upon an affirmative ballot.

Mandate

1. Corporate Average Fuel Economy emission standards will be repealed, and the money saved from the abolition of this program will be returned to taxpayers.

Funding: This plan is purely legislative, and will cost you nothing.

Observation VI : Advantages, how our plan impacts you, the judge, and solves for the harms we presented in our case.

With the abolition of these standards, the disadvantages are no longer existent thus, they have been solved for.

1. No cost. As presented early in this speech, the CAFE standards make cars more expensive, which depresses our already un-stable economy. With the abolition, we will be saving up to 1300 dollars per vehicle.

2. Less deaths. Also discussed earlier in this speech, the CAFE standards make cars more dangerous, and have increased the death rate per car crash, when these standards are repealed, car manufacturers will be free to create larger, heavier, and safer cars.

3. proper role of government.
Remembering our goal of proper role of government, we ask you to decide if the current administration is fulfilling it’s real responsibilities or not, we believe that CATO says it best-

“Congress has no business dictating automotive fuel efficiency. That’s a job for consumers, not vote-hustling politicians. There are no problems for CAFE standards to solve. Hence, they shouldn’t be tightened; they should be repealed.”

Something to say!

Dear readers,

My deepest regrets and apologies for my constant epic failures as a writer, and the utter neglect of my blogging responsibilities over the last few months. Life is crazy right now. (no excuse, I know) ;)

However, as I have a few moments to spare at this time, (yay!) and I am feeling somewhat inspired, I feel I should shall share something with ya’ll.

Some of you may be aware, or have heard somewhat of my “exploits” with my co-workers. Namely: the sharing of my Faith.

Faith
Faith

I feel an update is in order, as it has been a good 2 months since this all began with a simple question from a co-worker: “Do you believe in God?”

It has been eye-opening– a TRUE spiritual WAR! Some nights I find myself entering the car after work- shaking all over- teeth chattering- knees knocking together- all the result of an adrenaline rush from a recent spiritual discussion.

I have been sharing my faith there for the last 2 months, and have yet to see a convert. But is that the reason I share my Faith? Purely in order to convert people?

During a more recent conversation, one of my co-workers (whom I shall call Calvin)  asked me, in the middle of our discussion “why is this so important to you? what are you getting out of this? Why do you take the time to answer my questions?” It really got me to thinking… WHY do I share my Faith?

Jesus commands us to ” Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15 -KJV)

Matthew 10:32 says “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.” Do you think sharing our Faith is important to God? I can find numerous more verses commanding us to witness of the Gospel.

But aside from the COMMAND of Christ, to share the Good News… another reason to share The Truth comes to mind.

A few months ago, when I was first starting this job, I had asked myself the same question over and over again. I knew the Bible verses by heart, an I knew what I had to do! But I was simply TOO scared! And when I asked God to help me understand, and over-come my fears, God brought a picture to my mind.

It was of my friends. All my un-saved friends that I had never shared my Faith with, being condemned before God on the Day of Judgement. I’m standing with my hands by my sides helpless, only watching them, the people I knew being led to a place of everlasting torment. This picture is ingrained in my mind and is brought to remembrance any time I am afraid to Testify.

I realized my PRIDE! How DARE I with-hold the news of free everlasting life from people, merely for fear of what they MIGHT THINK of me??

How proud am I?

God calls us to Love our neighbors as ourselves. How then, can we watch our friends and neighbors live lives of Godlessness, bound for eternal torment and not be moved. We indeed have The Answer to eternal life! How can it be silenced?

Imagine yourself walking through the desert. A friend is walking with you, but, oddly enough, is walking backwards! He does not notice that he is a mere 10 feet from a cliff about to walk off and plummet 1000 feet to his death on the sharp desert rocks below. Would you not SCREAM “Turn around! You’re walking off a cliff!”? Would you be silent, afraid to be chided for your “lack of tolerance.” or scolded for your “harsh judgments” and “inability to have fun”?

Like I said, I have yet to lead a co-worker to Christ. But I feel it is my duty, as a loving neighbor, and a child of God, to make known the Truth. To Testify of God’s power to make the weak strong, save from the eternal punishment of Sin that is due us, and turn our lives toward Him with the reward of everlasting life and limit-less reward.

If my testimony never leads a single sinner to Christ, that is not my business. I can only do what I can, and no more. I cannot force anyone to listen, but the Duty, and the Call to Share is mine. What happens after that is God’s.

"Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel..." Ephesians 6:18-19

Calvin has recently asked me for a Bible, and some tracts, as has one other co-worker named Matt. Please pray for both of these, as they consider their eternal destiny! Pray that I will remain Faith-ful, and that some-how, through my weaknesses, Christ will be glorified, and His strength will be shown!

Grace and Peace to you all!

Crazy Times..

Hello everyone! I’m sorry my updates have been so very limited lately– it seems when I do end up updating… it’s mostly just to apologize for not updating. :-P

Unfortunately, this post isn’t going to be much different, as I really don’t have anything incredibly profound to say…

Instead, I will simply update you all on the recent happenings in my life.

1st, I turned 18 October 3rd!

2nd, I passed my driver’s test, and now have a license! :D :D :D (yay!)

3rd, debate class is in full swing, and we are going to have our second class this Friday!

4th, I am singing in a church youth choir… something I’ve never done before, but always wanted to do!

5th, I am going to start looking for a new job soon, so please pray for me to find one soon! Thank you!

On my birthday, October 3rd, my sister and I decided to take a bike-ride to the local park, and snap some pictures. Well, Hope did a FABULOUS job with the pictures, and I thought I’d share some with you all!

My beautiful sister... I thank God for you! :-D

I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how God will work things out this year, and I know that He works all things together for good! :) My duty right now is to love Him with all my heart, and to ALWAYS look to Him for guidance!

Man's best friend.

Hello all my wonderful, and faithful readers! :D I feel suddenly inspired to write to you all about man’s best friend. The dog. To tell you all the truth, I’m suffering from major “doggy withdrawals” right now. It has been 2 and a half months since I’ve last seen my dog, who is currently in Texas in the care of some of our good friends.

So in this post, I will be remembering Boomer, by showing some pretty amazing pictures of dogs, and explaining exactly why they are known throughout the world as “man’s best friend”. Enjoy!

What is it about dogs, that makes them so deserving of the title “Man’s Best Friend”? Obviously, horses are more useful, beautiful, and enjoyable. Not to mention they’ve been with men since… well, forever!

Is it that dogs are more readily available to everyone than horses– that they are less expensive?

Or is it something more?

Something about the way a dog will sit beside you all day, content to listen. Or how the dog will be equally happy to play and run for as long as you can possibly stand. How a dog will love you, and remain loyal regardless of one’s ethnicity, disability, age, or social status.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve had a bad day, or the best day of your life, the dog will remain a constant companion, through thick and thin. Ready to sit and listen, or run and play.

:) Happiness is: a field of puppies. :)

Dog’s seem to also have a sort of “personality” about them. Some dogs have perky personalities, and will jump around all day, wanting nothing but attention in the form of a moving rope, bouncing ball, or running hose. ;) Others are happiest with a comfortable place to lie down, curled up on their master’s lap, with the careful comforting stroke of a human’s hand on their fur.

But there is something else, that all dogs have in common; Something that separates them from other animals competing for the title ”man’s best friend”:

Loyalty.

Horses, and other animals don’t seem to attach to owners like a dog does. Truly, there is something special about a dog.

I hope I will be able to see Boomer again someday, I do miss her, quite a lot. I miss the runs we would go on, her ever-listening ear… play-wrestling… watching sunsets… I miss guitar on the front porch, where no-one could here me. Boomer would always sit at my feet, never budging no matter how poorly I sang. (now, that is loyalty) ;)

I know that whatever happens, wherever she is, wherever she goes, she’ll always have been one of my very best of friends.

Boomerang and I. :-)

The Kansas State Fair: My Perspective

Hey guys! My family and I recently got the opportunity to visit the Kansas State Fair… Sorry about the formatting of the photos… but, it seems I will never have enough time to upload these individually. :-/

The fair was a blast! Here are a few pics from the trip!
