My brother is getting MARRIED!!!!!

I can’t believe I’m actually typing these words, but if you didn’t know this already: my biggest brother, Pat, IS GETTING MARRIED!!!!! I always knew it would happen one day, but now… it’s happening! I AM SO VERY, VERY, EXTREMELY EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (As if you couldn’t tell that already!)

I snapped this when they came to our church one Sunday. Aren’t Pat and Michelle so cute together?

Michelle is everything I could ask for in a future sister-in- law love. Sure, she’s beautiful and smart and fun and talented, but as great as those things are, honestly, they don’t say too much. I know non-Christians who I could describe with those same traits. With Michelle, it’s her passionate love for God and her character that make her gleam. Her servant’s heart, giving spirit, and sweet humility are what make me want to stay around her every opportunity I have (well, that and also the fact that she’s my brother’s best friend ;-) )! In so many ways, I wish I was more like her… and now she’s going to be my sister!

Question for you girls:

Do any of y’all have suggestions on where I could find a modest, not-way-too-expensive, green dress? :D I’m a bridesmaid, but the dress doesn’t have to be too formal (think like an evening dress). If you can think of any ideas, don’t hesitate to comment or shoot me a message. Thanks!

Yay! Congratulations to you and your brother!! Sounds like y’all are getting off on the right foot. :-)

    As for the dresses…

Have you tried ebay? There is a lot that can be done with a formal and a shrug. Or, if you don’t care for the shrug-rout there are often other creative ways to make a dress modest.

Do you sew, or do you know anyone who does? If you can use a low-yardage pattern (not necessarily short, just not a very full skirt) and get the fabric on sale making your own can be pretty cost efficient.

How expensive is “not too expensive”? $20? $50? $90?

Here are some discount dresses that range from $69-$89. Probably a bit more than you’re after, but you can look. :) http://www.totallymodest.com/MaidsSale.html

http://www.modestprom.com/buyagown/websites.htm A collection of links to companies that sell modest formals. Most are probably pricey, but you can research. :)

Yay!! So excited for them, and all of you guys. :D

As for dresses…well, it might sound kinda weird, but the Mormons have some pretty good ones. :D I like looking around at Latter Day Bride…only downside is, they aren’t terribly cheap. Then again, they’re not terribly expensive, either. They’re fun to look at, anyway. :D

I thought I’d post this again.

I had a new revelation about Proverbs 18:22. ”He who finds a wife finds a good thing And obtains favor from the LORD.”

Isn’t it kinda strange coming from a guy who had a thousand wives/concubines? Maybe he took that too literally…

Check your local thrift stores, consignment shops, and/or resale shops, for their evening wear section. I’ve pulled off several modest evening gowns for under $30. Congrats to your brother! :D

    Thanks girls for the ideas!

@Brian: LOL!!! But don’t you go getting any ideas about taking the verse too literally yourself! :-)

I can’t tell you how many dresses I’ve found for $30 dollars and under at Ross, Salvation Army, and Goodwill. I’d recommend going for one of those. Even if you need to have a dress altered in some way, I’ll bet you know plenty of women who know how to sew. :)

    There’s a reason I can afford to own 27 dresses…:P

Christina! CONGRATS!! What fun!! I love it. :)

Dress wise? Hmm. You could always check places like (I know it sounds crazy) but Salvation Army. I’ve found that you never know with these places. (And Salvation Army has days were articles of clothing are 1/2 off!) You might be able to find something. Worth a look. :)

Also, you could probably find something online on some Morman sites. Or if you shop online sales at places such as Target etc.
Also, I’ve found that Ross can have some dresses at a decent price. It is really hit or miss though. :)

Hope that helps!! Excited for you, my friend!
