TP or LD?
TP man!
TP FTW!!!
LD.
LD. LD. LD.
Hmmmm…… I’m gonna have to sit on the fence here.
Debaters not providing reasons for their positions? What’s the world coming to…
Lincoln Douglas Policy.
Parlimentary Douglas Policy.
Team Lincoln Debate. But that would only be for Yankees.
Yeah, I prefer to refer to it as Douglas debate.
LD!!!!
Hey, this is a perfectly relevant QotD!
Though I can understand @owenstroud ’s claim to heir-ship.
LD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Though TP or parli sounds cool..

Question of the Day! (The real one…ahem @brianfactor
)
If you were to be banished from modern civilization to live alone in any of the following, which would you choose:(1) Siberia, where convicts and icicles live.
(2) The Himalayas, where there is no oxygen. Practically.
(3) The Congo, where there are driver ants and tsetse flies.
(4) Papua New Guinea, where there are Komodo dragons.
(5) The Sahara Desert, where there is no water.Cheers!
Yuck. Well…probably Papua New Guinea.
Papua New Guinea
Who said you were official?
I didn’t see that notice. Just admit it. You got beat to the draw.Siberia
Although it would be neat to /meat/ a Komodo Dragon. hehe…
*groan*
You need to be sent to the punitentiary…
Uh…group adminship?
:cough: :cough: http://jibenow.com/activity/p/42414
And I quote: ”I welcome all contributors, however.
” ~@margaretMaybe you have a different definition of ”all”?

Well I couldn’t live anywhere cold (Texas gets cold enough)…and I’m sort of attached to water…and as animals or bugs don’t pose a threat to me I’d probably chose the Congo, or Papua New Guinea.
but undeceive little me can’t decide…
The Himalayas of course!!!! Who wouldn’t want to live on Mount Everest??
Tooo cooooold!
LOL!
The Congo
Papau New Guinea. Absolutely.
Siberia.
…I think….
If I had to choose from those, I would go with Nate to Siberia, I don’t mind the cold.
If I had to choose for myself though, it’d probably be Svalbard.
Funny that you should say that. I originally had Svalbaard in place of Siberia.
Probably P.N.G. though they have lots of diseases there..or the Himalayas…
Papua New Guinea

Okay, I hope this fits the topic of this group, but I have a serious problem. (Fake names will be used to make this easier to understand, as it is extremely complicated.)
I met some friends over a chatbox on an online writing group, and this one guy, Bob, started being very mean to me about the way that I thought and the things I liked. It made me very upset and it soon began to spread to my home life. Finally, things got so bad that I got off the group without telling anyone, and began happily living my life without problems. I didn’t like Bob ’in that way’, but I knew that a couple of other girls did (’Mary’ and ’Kayla’), who I was friends with on seperate places. A penpal who I write to, Lisa, is also friends with his sister, so she automatically she talks with him a lot. Lisa, Mary and Kayla soon began talking about him with me and I began to avoid them, especially when Bob got onto the one network that I could go on without having to hear from him. It got very bad, so finally my mom said that I should write them and Bob emails explaining the situation so I could get on with my life. Well, last night I was in for a big surprise. Kayla is now Bob’s girlfriend, and they are courting.
So my question is this: what do I say to them? I have written Bob’s email already, but I don’t know what to say to Mary, and especially Kayla, without offending them. I hope that this question fits this group…please help! :-/
Without know all the details I would advise pursuing a a href=’http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+18%3A15-17&version=NIV”>Matt 18:15-17 approach. Confront Bob privately (with your parent’s approval/advice of course) and inform him of what’s wrong. Then see what he says/responds. Perhaps there’s just been a misunderstanding or he’ll have a change of heart.
Thanks Paul. I will probably want to cut ties with him completely however, because this is what both me and my family wants as it spreads to my home life and makes it very unpleasent. I think I will do that. Thanks again.
I think what Paul said was good. It very well may be that he simply doesn’t know how badly he offended you. Also, is it a possibility that y’all could just agree to disagree? Maybe you should just let him know that you don’t appreciate it when he voices his dislikes for your lifestyle. I know among my friends…one in particular *ahem* we won’t mention any names because I think you know who you are
…there are things which we’ve just agreed to not bring up and it saves any bitter feelings. I know, for me, it’s often just emotions taking control and careless remarks are taken personally and feelings get hurt when no harm was intended. Not knowing the details, it’s hard to say…but I think working things out is definitely a better option than excommunicating in most situations. Just my $0.02. I’ll be praying for you and everyone involved.
Thanks. I think that you’re right about him not knowing…you may be right in some cases, but I know a lot of times he was just being spiteful….I mean, I’m sure Bob is a perfectly nice guy to everyone else, but when I entered into the group the first thing we did is have a big fight over our political views…so I don’t know if he will actually take what I say and honour it. Often when I have tried to do this before, he has turned the situation around and made me the proverbial ’bad guy’. Thanks for your prayers.
Oh, one last thing… remember to forgive Bob. I know forgiveness can be hard… all of us struggle with it, but rely on God for your strength. God tells us that we will never be tempted beyond what we can bear: 1 Cor 10:13. God’s there with you all the way.
Thanks Paul…I just heard a message about this on the radio today….really, I shouldn’t be making such a big deal about it because I have had a lot worse stuff happen over the past few years. I guess it’s more of a pain then anything. I’ve been doing a lot of praying on it and the Lord is really speaking to me.
if your to friends have gotten together, than that’s a sure sign that they moved on, so the road is open for you to do the same.
I agree, but the problem is that they won’t LET me move on…they continually keep talking to me about things I don’t want talk about, and I don’t want to offend anyone so I don’t tell them how I feel.
Maybe I’m just being dumb…it’s all extremely complicated.I got up the guts, once, to tell a friend (who was rather upset about me wearing a kilt, as she considered it ”wrong”) that, basically, if she couldn’t be my friend because of it, go have a nice life. It was sharp…but honest.
You can’t let them dominate your life. You, Emma, have to push on, whether they ”let you” or not. Believe me, I’ve done a lot of stupid things in my lifetime…and nearly blown some friendships; but you can’t let it control you. You must move on.
I’m sorry….Not knowing the situation in detail throws me a bit…that’s all I can really think of right now.
Except, remember who your best friend is.
Actually, when I’ve experienced pain in my friendships, I have been very comforted by the thought,
”Well, Lord: it’s you and me, now…and whoever else you choose to bring along, in your time. Bless your name.”Thanks Nathan. I agree with you…there was a point in this whole thing that it WAS controlling me- wholly and completely.
You know, that’s pretty much word-for-word what I’d like to say to these particular people….lol…but I don’t have the guts.
I will continue this later, but alas, time is short. ttyl, thank you again.
Pray about it, too.

God bless!
Eh… but Biblically I don’t know if that’s the correct approach. Think of it in terms of the ”weaker brother” idea. So perhaps while it’d be ok for you to wear a kilt when not around her… if you know yall will be in close contact perhaps you should refrain from doing so in her presence.
An example in my life would be wearing a shirt while swimming. I prefer to swim shirtless and do so when no one else minds. But whenever I’m with a group that prefers shirts then I’ll swim with my shirt on. Not because I think it’s immoral, but because I don’t want to offend the ”weaker brother”.
That’s true.
Now, however, she’s begging me to wear it again next year, which I don’t think I shall. It was a poor example, though.Exactly. Thanks for the thoughts. It had never occurred to me before.
Alas, the dangers of chat rooms.
Emma, I think the question that comes to the heart of the matter is:
Do you consider Bob a brother in Christ? Does he follow Jesus like you? If so, then let there ”…be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.” (1 Cor 12:25) You should be open with him (Matthew 18 style). Now, if he is not a Christian, or turns out to be a CINO (Christian In Name Only), then that’s a whole different ball game.
Haha. I can think of a couple incidences were I was the one that offended someone else in online chat without even knowing it. There’s just so much you can’t see when it’s just text. Bob probably comes from a different culture, and probably isn’t intending to hurt you (especially if he’s also part of the body of Christ).
><> Brian
Bob is most definately a Christian- I believe that a lot of our problems were because of our religious differences, actually, which makes it even worse. Thanks for your suggestion. That’s exactly what I should do…though the technicalities of the whole situation make it very complicated
Is he another denomination?
Yes, but I’m not sure which. At the time I was attending a Catholic church (we now attend a different one, though- I think it’s evangelical but I’m not sure) and he disliked that greatly….eh….
So he’s a Protestant? :sigh:
I have Catholic friends…a lot of ’em… I don’t see why he should be so disturbed. I’m sorry.

I like Hans Zimmer .Period. end of story…
Me too- I loved his work in Pirate of the Caribbesean and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Anyone here like Howard Shore? He composed Lord of the Rings.
Me too. Such a shame he did Pirates and LotR, though.
LOL! Sorry. **considers slapping DH** haha, jk.
even if you don’t like either movies, they both have amazing soundtracks.
Yeah. I know.
Hans Zimmer didn’t do LotR! That was Howard Shore. (And, my word, was it amazing.)
Hans Zimmer rather rocks too.
Actually, most of Hans Zimmer’s music is awful (as he has done 80% of the movies out there), but every now and then he puts out a gem, like PotC.
AWFUL???? DUDE! What about, ”The Gladiator”, ”The Dark Knight”, ”Inception”, ”Batman Begins”, and the awesomeness that is ”Sherlock Holmes”???
Those are the gems, but ”Chicken Run”, ”The Curse of the Were-Rabbit”, ”The Prince of Egypt”, ”Broken Arrow”, ”Madagascar”, ”Madagascar 2”, ”Over the Hedge”, ”Vantage Point” were all filled with really basic and unimaginative music.
Besides, most of his music sounds the same, unlike John Williams, Harry Gregson-Williams, or any other notable composer.
Prince of Egypt by Dreamworks?? Dude, that movie has glorious music.
Madagascar… I kinda share your feelings there.
Hey, Luke, I’ve seen the first four movies and the last one you mentioned, and I thought the music was great!
I like yer new avatar!
Not to mention ”Backdraft” and ”Black Hawk Down”
Yeah… HZ Rocks my Socks

Considering needed finances for ”The Spaceman Project”
$200+ needed for costumes
$150+ needed for armour
$100 to invest in weaponryAnd maybe a few other things. Depends on if I can get post-production assistance and a volunteer crew.
WHEW!!! This is HUGE!!!That’s coming close on $1000 invested in this project…YIKES!!!
That’s about twice as much as I spent on my movie.
Hey Nathan is there anyway I can help you on this venture?
Do you know about film production period???
Yes. What about it?
Got money?

Yes, perhaps in the future. I will need more actors. And I’ll have to approve them, though. We’ll have to see what you can do next spring, when we get nearer the time for shooting.
I got an email from Stacie. Thanks for telling ’em about me.
I hope they’ll help.

I don’t know who the author of this poem is, but it is too special to keep to myself. Her hair was up in a pony tail, her favorite dress tied with a bow. Today was Daddy’s Day at school, and she couldn’t wait to go. But her mommy tried to tell her, that she [...]
